Cheryl Chang – Nourish Kitchen

Cheryl Chang, a Taiwanese chef of colour, uses food as a bridge to connect people across cultures. Rooted in her heritage, she creates inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome—both at the table and in the kitchen. Through shared meals and storytelling, she builds community, fostering belonging and connection. Her menus celebrate diversity, offering vibrant, flavourful dishes that embrace varied dietary needs, proving that inclusivity can be delicious.

Shabnam Yazdani, Keg Restaurant

Shabnam – I’m an engineer who decided to become a chef. Growing up in a rich Iranian culture where food, gatherings, and hospitality are deeply valued, I was inspired to become a chef. Sharing meals and bringing people together through diverse, flavorful dishes has always been a part of my roots. I’ve now worked in the food industry for 11 years, and I’ve never regretted it. I enjoy every moment of my cooking journey. Kitchen life has transformed me and completed my personality.
I’m currently working as a Culinary Manager at The Keg, while continuously learning and preparing myself for further growth in my career.

Janice Quinto – Ono Vancouver

Janice – Guided by curiousity–a quality that has taken her through nearly every kind of kitchen you can imagine; this Canadian born Filipinx chef is lead by her heart-forward cooking. Catch her crafting creative seasonal surplus-forward menus leading Ono Vancouver’s private dining program!

Hi I’m Kylie, I’m born and raised in BC and started my Culinary journey 4 years ago in downtown Van eventually joining the wentworth group and getting to work with some amazing female chefs at Homer st cafe and bar before moving to help open a new restaurant with in group. A few months ago we opened folietta, a beautiful Italian restaurant right in the heart of a well established Italian community and I’ve recently took on a sou chef roll where I over see dinner and brunch. What I love most about working in Vancouver is the incredible ingredients we are able to source and how fresh and special each product is.

Irene Lopez Martin – Folietta Restaurant + Bar

Hi my name is Irene, I was born in Spain and moved to BC Canada 3 years ago looking for new experiences when the wentworth group gave me an opportunity to grow within the company and now I work at their brand new italian resturant folietta where I am a Baker and prep Cook. The Vancouver hospitality industy has opened my eyes to a whole new community filled with talented, accepting and driven individuals that I feel proud to call my Friends and canada my home.

Taryn Barker – The Little Butcher

Taryn Barker has held numerous positions in the meat and food industries for over 19 years. She started out her career at the age of fifteen as a customer server in a small family run butcher shop, and just celebrated her 13th anniversary as the owner and head butcher of The Little Butcher in Port Moody BC. The Little Butcher practices whole animal butchery and works strictly with B.C. meat producers. Through online tryouts in 2018, she became a member of the first Canadian butcher team, Butchery Team Canada.
